 | | Maoyushan Primary School is located in the remote area in southern Gansu province, China. Two of three teachers in the school are invited by the mountain villagers, as most teachers of state-funded schools hardly would like to work here. In contrast to the heavy teaching tasks, these teachers only get little income. They not only have to put up with the hardships of lacking material comfort, but also the emptiness and loneliness of the mind due to the geographical confinement. Maoyushan Primary School is not the single case. So far, there are thousands of such primary schools and tens of thousands of such rural teachers in the backward and remote regions of China. | |
