Family members weep at the funeral of three brothers, Kendall Stephen, 21,
Kareem and Kadeem Stephen, both 16, killed in the gang-style murder of four
people last week Aug
ust 4, 2006 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The brothers had only
returned to New Orleans two weeks ago following their evacuation to Houston
after Hurricane Katrina. The city had few murders for many months following
Katrina, but the total began to rise sharply in late spring, with 21 murders
reported in just one month, including a quintuple killing in
mid-June. |
