Renata Ferri, Italy
Renata Ferri was born in Rome in 1964. She is a journalist, chief Picture
Editor of Io Donna, the weekly magazine for women of Corriere della Sera, after
studying photography she joins Contrasto as chief of photo production.
She coordinates the work of about 40 photographers who follow every national
and international current affair; she takes care of the photographic projects,
the organization of the journeys and the reports, the selection of new
photographers, the editing and the relations with national and international
agents and newspapers. In 1999 she adds to these activities the building of a
vast online archive of the Italian photography.
Alongside her work she has always been teaching in specialized schools and
universities.
She has been a member of many juries of photographic awards and has hold
workshops in the best schools and the most prestigious Photo Festivals in
Italy.
She has edited two photographic books, also writing the introduction: the
first one was a report on Italian prisons, with a text by Adriano Sofri
(Prisons, 2006), the second one was about the immigrants condition in Italy with
a text by Gian Antonio Stella (Nero, 2007).
In the 2007 FotoGrafia Festival of Rome, she organizes a vast exhibition:
Altri mondi at the Museo di Roma in Trastevere. It is about photojournalism in
the last three decades seen through the work of the most important Italian
authors.
In 2008 she joins the Reflections project, by Giorgia Fiorio and Gabriel
Bauret. SheĄŻs been living in Milan since 2005 where she works as a Picture
Editor, teaches at the Istituto Riccardo Bauer and follows photographic projects
with several authors.
