Abir Abdullah
Abir Abdullah Bangladesh) is now working in the European Pressphoto Agency
(epa) as Bangladesh correspondent. He wo
rked with Drik Picture Library from 1997
to 2005. Completed three years long seminar (Pleasure of Life) assigned and
supported by World Press Photo.
Being a winner of Mother Jones International Fund for Documentary Photography
Awards for ¡® Freedom Fighters: Veterans of the Bangladesh Liberation War of
1971¡¯, Abir had his first solo photo exhibition in Dhaka. He is also a Unicef
Photographer of the year contest, 3rd Prize in the Magazine News category in the
Best of Photojournalism (NPPA) and the nomination award in the National
Geographic All Roads Photography project. He got the gold prize in portrait and
people in the news stories category in the 4th. China Press Photo Contest in
2008.
His photos used to be published in New York Times, Asia Week, Geo, Der
Spiegel, the Guardian, Newsweek, Far Eastern Economic Review, Chicago Tribune
and TIME magazine, while his photos have been shown in London, Amsterdam, San
Francisco and Mexico City in group exhibitions.
